How can we help you?
While Organ Design is able to carry on its organ building business during lockdown following government guidelines due to the way we work, we have also been working on how to help churches function more fully during lockdown and beyond.
Our observation – as instrument makers, we notice that many organists are live streaming and recording their own musical performances via Facebook or other media, using their smartphone. The problem is that the sound quality is, frankly, dreadful.
Our first thought was how to improve the sound quality.
In coming up with our solution, we realised that this would be beneficial not only for those organists but also to enable quality online broadcast during church services, masses and recitals.
Our solution – we would instal good quality microphones within the organ case, set up and balanced by us. Cameras could be fitted as required. We would also provide the equipment needed to enable performances to be broadcast via social media, a church’s website and so on.
Added advantages
By employing Organ Design to instal the equipment, the fitting would be safe because, as experienced organ builders accredited by the IBO, we can work within the cramped confines of an organ chamber without causing damage, and would know exactly where to place the microphones and other equipment to best advantage.
The improved sound quality which would now be generated from the organ could also be plugged directly into the church’s PA system, meaning that in time when people are able to attend church again, the sound quality of the organ will be enhanced.
No faculty would be needed because the installation would be inside the organ and no structural alterations would be required.
